A few days back, I was talking to one of my closest friends about the first time we met. It was in seventh grade, 2008. I then realized that it has already been nine years since we first met! It's amazing how much we have grown and learned through all these years.

When we were younger, we used to talk about college and all the things we would do there. Now, we have already graduated and in our twenties. The fact that in a few years, we'll be in our thirties, astonishes me!

Time is uncontrollable. You can't reverse, stop or move it forward. I have always been fascinated by the whole concept of time and the way it works.

It's perennial, yet limited.

It feels slow when we are younger, but goes by quickly up as we age.

As we grow old, we get more busy with the work and responsibilities of adulthood, and we have less time to think about anything else other than our usual routines.

And it is very easy to get overwhelmed with the feeling of passing time and not being able to become what you intended to become or being able to do what you had planned to do.

Time seems to go by even faster due to the improvement in technology. With all these advancements in technology, you are always preoccupied with a lot of information all the time. It feels like you don't have enough time to consume all those ‘information'.

And as you spend most of your time consuming the information that has no constructive impact on you, you have less time to do things that are actually beneficial for you.

Understandably, you can't just simply shut yourself off from it, (it's practically everywhere) but you can surely minimize the time you spend on them and focus on productive activities.

Every day and every moment are important; we don't realize this when we consider a particular day as just another ordinary, average day. Every little productive input that you add to your ‘ordinary' day is going to make you extraordinary in the future.

The important thing is the realization. That all the changes you want to see in yourself, you need to make them at the right moment, which is now. The things you do now and the thoughts you have now are the memories your future self will have. So make sure your future self has really pleasant memories to remember.

Do everything you need to do to improve yourself-
-Want to have a toned body?- Stop eating junk and start working out NOW
-Want to become more intellectual?-Start reading 5 pages of a good book NOW
-Want to master a new language?-Enroll in a language class or simply watch tutorial videos on YouTube NOW

No matter which area you want to improve in, you can start by adding little habits. And continue doing it. Every day. These little efforts that you make every day are going to make you better tomorrow.

So go ahead and make a list of all the things you want to improve about yourself and the ways through which you can achieve them. Make little changes every day and keep a track of it.

Keep doing this and in just one year from now, you will see a huge difference in yourself. Time is really powerful; so make sure you use it for your own good.

Everybody on this earth has the same amount of time every day, only the way we utilize it makes all the difference.

If you don't make the most of your time right now, years will go by in the blink of an eye and you will regret the time you wasted by not taking any initiative to do something you always wanted to do.

Also, you wouldn't need to worry about the future you because you are making active efforts now to build an awesome future you.

Take action now.

And yeah one more important thing, do not ever get too worked up while trying to achieve your goals because taking everything too seriously is going to make your life really boring. Life is nothing without fun, so make sure that you actually enjoy the process of changing yourself for the better.

So go out there and rock your present!

  1. Excellent post, as we step into 2019! I spend time on Instagram, searching for companies and organizations that are related to my degree, but sometimes I get sidetracked, and end up spending way too much time on Insta. Before I know it, an hour has passed, and I’ve filled my mind with emptiness and frivolity. So, I’m hoping to change that in the new year! Thank you for the great post! Time to live in the present! 😊

    1. Absolutely! More often than not, we don't even realize how much time we end up wasting while trying to do something productive. But I think taking the first step, doing something every day can help us in breaking our bad habits. Thank you so much for your appreciation! Hope you have an amazing new year.
